Plagiarism Policy

The International Journal of Property Sciences (IJPS) maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism. As a research-driven publication, we uphold the integrity of the academic record and ensure that all published work is the result of original thought and rigorous investigation.

1. Definition of Plagiarism
At IJPS, plagiarism is defined as the inappropriate use of another person's ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct Copying: Reproducing text verbatim from another source without using quotation marks and proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing: Restating someone else's ideas or theories in your own words without acknowledging the original author.
  • Self-Plagiarism (Text Recycling): Reusing significant portions of one’s own previously published work without disclosure or citation.
  • Mosaic Plagiarism: Patching together portions of different texts to create a "new" manuscript without clear attribution.

2. Screening Process
To ensure compliance, IJPS employs a multi-stage screening process:

  • Initial Submission: Every manuscript submitted to the journal is automatically screened using industry-standard detection software (e.g., Turnitin).
  • Similarity Report Analysis: Editorial staff reviews the similarity report. A maximum similarity index of 25% is permitted, as determined by the Turnitin report.
  • Peer Review: Our expert reviewers are tasked with identifying any instances where ideas or data appear to be unoriginal or improperly cited.

3. Measures and Sanctions
If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process, the following actions will be taken:

  • Pre-publication: The manuscript will be immediately rejected. The authors may be barred from submitting to the journal for a specified period (typically 1–3 years) depending on the severity.
  • Post-publication: If plagiarism is discovered after a paper has been published, the journal will conduct a formal investigation. If confirmed, the article will be retracted, a formal notice will be published online, and the authors' institutions may be notified.

4. Author Responsibility
Authors must ensure that all sources are cited at the point of use. IJPS encourages the use of reference management software to maintain accuracy. By submitting a manuscript, authors certify that the work is original and that all contributing sources have been appropriately acknowledged.
