Abstract

This research aims to study the concept of Islamophobia and its effects in Western contexts, focusing on its negative impacts on the cultural identity of Muslim youth in Europe and the United States. It seeks to analyze the components of this identity, including religious, linguistic, and cultural aspects, and to explore the relationship between these components and the discrimination and racism they face. The problem addressed by the research is the prevalence of Islamophobia and its devastating effects on Muslims in Western societies. This phenomenon reflects a lack of acceptance of cultural diversity and contributes to the entrenchment and dissemination of negative stereotypes about Islam and Muslims, necessitating a comprehensive and in-depth study to understand the roots of this phenomenon and its effects on the cultural identity of Muslims. The research employs a descriptive-analytical methodology, reviewing and analyzing the literature on Islamophobia and its history, and examining contemporary cases that reflect the impact of this phenomenon on Muslims to understand the experiences of Muslim youth in the West. The study concludes that Islamophobia is not merely a transient phenomenon but rather a deliberate strategy targeting Muslims, contributing to the negative shaping of their cultural identities. Additionally, the results indicate that enhancing cultural and religious awareness among Muslim youth can be an effective means of combating discrimination and promoting cultural pluralism in Western societies.
